history

On October 8, 1990, the Consorcio del Jamón Serrano Español was officially presented in the emblematic “Nave de Terneras” (former municipal slaughterhouse in Madrid). It was the birth of an entity focusing on endorsing and guaranteeing Serrano ham as one of the high-quality Spanish products on foreign markets.
The Consorcio Jamón Serrano Español began its international promotion work at the SIAL fair held in Paris in 1990–the first event at which the consortium participated.
From that moment on, and with the aim of safeguarding the image and quality of authentic Spanish Serrano ham in international markets, the “ConsorcioSerrano” quality seal was created, identifying products that have passed the quality controls established by the association, selected piece by piece, exported and marketed by member companies.
